New URL Format at ClickaSnap


I haven’t seen the new CAS format for URLs yet that will start being generated on August 10 but there will be some far reaching connectivity outages.  This posting has been written without links to CAS to avoid having to change them later.


The current URL format is scheduled to be “redirected” to the new locations through October 10. After that date all current links between CAS and subscribers’ media will go dark. 


Going dark means all existing published links will show as broken. Possibly a “404 - file not found” error will result. Such a condition reflects poorly on the owners who has that show up on their web pages.


People who maintain their own web presence will be able to edit the HTML of their pages to accommodate the changes but… there are places where editing is not possible. 


Tweeted images, album links, and the profile link itself are not editable. I believe (X) will still have the image which was used but the link will be dead. To avoid looking as though you are no longer active, the tweets will need to be purged. Some CAS accounts have made extensive use of (X) and will be hamstrung by its loss. 


Fully half of the views of my images come from the internet outside of CAS. Although use of Facebook posts are editable some subscribers have made extensive use of them and have a huge effort ahead. 


Many other platforms also cannot be edited.  I’ve not even seen a way to delete a Pinterest posting. That is why I don’t make much use of it.  


I cringe and bristle at the notion that all the search engines which have indexed my links will no longer find them valid. Their algorithms will certainly penalize me. 


The link shortener, Bitly, also is not  able to be edited or deleted.  My only recourse it to delete all my use of them.

With all the downside of the impending changes of the CAS link format, I truly hope the new format is superior in some way and makes the overall platform far better.

It just Goes to Show Ya, You Never Know Marketing efforts for any product or service can take off on a tangent at any time. Just when you think your efforts are not bearing fruit, there it is. So it is with my Lens4anEye profile. National Road Toll House I would post a ClickaSnap image link in my Facebook page and on some of the Groups in which I am a member. It would get a view or two here and there. Even by posting an image in one or other of the "related" ClickaSnap Facebook groups would get nary a view or comment. But then one day I pasted the link to my Braddock album in a Braddock, PA Facebook group and the members of that group rallied to the album and generated over 1000 collective views of 21 photos. It happened all in a 48 hour period before the listing aged down their page and out of view. Photo Selling Platform

When I signed up for using the ClickASnap.com photo sharing platform I was drawn to to as a place where I could display my photographs and generate sales of prints. The marketing copy said they were a global operation and people would be able to see my work and go to the integrated Seller Shop to purchase what they had just been seeing. A perc was that people who who viewed my pictures long enough would generate a small revenue. At the Free subscription the amount would be $0.001 per view and $0.009 per view at the Pro subscription level. I opted for the Pro subscription and generated about $180 in the first 12 months.
